Na h-Eala
Na h-Eala
( The Swans )
This instrumental was written near Haapaveesi in Finland during one of the ‘Reeltime’ concert tours. The melody was inspired by the swans who grace the northern shores of Lough Derg, near my hometown, Portumna. Maybe I was a little homesick at the time...!
I remember that this part of central Finland had miles and miles of beautiful bogland and Haapaveesi had a peat-fueled powerstation, much like the ones in the Bog of Allen in central Ireland, Shannonbridge, Ferbane to name but two. Suddenly the landscape of Finland was very familiar and this tune bubbled to the surface.
I take the opportunity of dedicating the track to the other three original members of Reeltime - Chris Kelly, Máirin Fahy and Éilís Egan for all the great times and fabulous music.
