Widely acclaimed as a concert violinist, entertainer and general Danish celebrity, Kim Sjøgren sat down one day to write an Irish reel. But just to complicate things, he decided to bookend it with J.S. Bach’s Partida for Violin Solo No.1 in B minor and throw in for good measure one of his inimitable classical embellishments in the middle (in C).

The result is this wonderful mix of the classical and the traditional.

However, while Kim had written the reel, he guessed that he’d have to move to Ireland and go to sessions in Clare or Galway for a year or two in order to learn the dark art of playing the violin like an Irish fiddle.... 

In the meantime, the scintillating Niamh Dunne (Beoga) obliged providing the perfect musical counterfoil to Bach’s melodies.
