COMPOSER

Written by Ger Fahy, composer and virtuoso and long time musical co-conspirator. Ger has written numerous lovely compositions, and this is but one of them...dotted down while waiting for a plane. There’s something about the optimism of a slip jig, the 9/8 timing. Then there’s this melody from Ger.  Magic. The only improvement you can have on a slipjig is to have an Irish dancer dance the actual slipjig. I have had the pleasure of watching multitudes of Irish dancers performing with our music and I take pleasure in dedicating this track to the dancers of “Trad on the Prom” who enthral both audiences and musicians every time we perform together.

Míle buiochas daoibh go léir.

I have decided on a more classico-trad arrangement of this beautiful tune here, courtesy of Kim Sjøgren’s wonderful violin playing.

Thanks to Ger for letting me record this, his composition and for the countless times he has been responsible for those musical moments that make your hair stand on end...!.
